Current job vacancy: Crystal Palace Wine Club, Deputy Manager (part time / full time)

The company

  • Crystal Palace Wine Club is a start-up wine brand based in South London running a wine and cheese bar (with a second on the way in 2024), the annual South London Wine Fair, regular events and private wine tastings, an online wine delivery service, a local wine subscription, an import company and a growing wholesale operation around London and beyond.

The job

  • We are looking for a Deputy Manager to help with all aspects of operations at our Crystal Palace wine bar.
  • Reporting to the Manager, you will do it all, from serving wine to preparing cheese boards, managing staff and organising the space.
  • After a settling in period, you will begin to take on increased responsibility, eventually being able to open and close the bar independently.
  • An initial contract covering 15-20 hours per week across our opening days Weds-Sun, with regular Friday and Saturday availability required.
  • Once we open our second venue later this year, there is the potential for a full-time job across both sites. 
  • Pay £14 per hour plus tips (take home £16+ per hour)

The person

  • You will be an experienced hospitality worker, knowing how to interact with customers to provide a warm, welcoming experience.
  • You will be confident working in a busy environment, capably managing multiple tables simultaneously without fuss.
  • You will be a proactive worker, somebody who is always looking for tasks to accomplish and is not content with sitting idly in quieter times.
  • You will be ruthlessly dedicated to high standards, never being content with a messy worktop or a dirty fridge.
  • You will be excited by wine and keen to learn more about the subject. Prior wine experience and wine qualifications (WSET) desired but not required.
