Description

Bobal is the defining grape of under-the-radar Spanish region Utiel-Requena, located outside Valencia. The snail on the bottle represents the ethos of Bodega Aranleon, a tribute to the slow, patient work in the vineyard. The grapes are hand-harvested from largely non-irrigated vines, and the wine is aged in Hungarian and French oak barrels for six months. Low-intervention, certified organic and vegan.

Aromas & flavours

Bobal is a powerful grape, but with a characteristic delicacy defined by aromas of dried herbs and flowers, often described as “balsam” or “medicinal”. Plenty of red and black fruit on the nose, alongside touches of oak, with a mineral freshness on the palate. The wine has the structure to age, and in its present lively form is best savoured with food. 20% Syrah is blended for balance.

Food pairing

The wine’s balance gives it versatility when pairing. We favour sausages on the barbecue, juicy steaks, and cheeses. You also can’t go wrong with tapas.
